CULMINATING THE ENVIRONMENT MONTH, THE VIRTUAL WAY
OIC RD Fay W. Apil delivers her environmental message for the Environment Month Culminating Program.
June 30, 2020, Baguio City- The Mines and Geosciences Bureau-Cordillera Administrative Region (MGB-CAR) joined the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Cordillera Administrative Region (DENR-CAR) in the virtual celebration of the Environment Month Culmination Program. With the theme “Protect Nature, Sustain the Future”, DENR Field offices in all the provinces of the region, the regional bureaus and other attached agencies together with Environmental Partners from the local government units, regional and municipal police offices gathered in the virtual loop to express and pledge their love for the environment.
In her message during the program, MGB-CAR OIC Regional Director, Fay W. Apil, acknowledged the role of the mining industry in making possible the use of technology during these times when everything is done virtually. Further, the copper lines and all other metals like gold and silver that are used in ensuring the sustainability of the digital world we are slowly transitioning into are products that come from mining, thus, making the industry vital.
She also congratulated all the awardees and thanked all environmental partners. Special mention went to the Itogon Municipal Police Office headed by PMAJ Rommel Sawatang for the assistance they have extended MGB-CAR in the conduct of monitoring/apprehension for illegal small-scale mining activities in the municipality.
Lastly, she encouraged everyone that as we move into the new normal where conferences, seminars, meetings, and milestones are celebrated via online connection, we continue to protect and respect the natural and human environment to ensure sustainability of our future.
