As an expression of unity and support to the celebration of the Cordillera month, employees of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau-Cordillera Administrative Region (MGB-CAR) don their native garb every Monday for the whole month of July.
The theme for this year’s celebration is “One Resilient Cordillera Embracing the New Normal Towards Recovery”, aptly coined to express the resiliency of the Cordillerans, especially amidst the COVID 19 pandemic and other challenges besetting the region in its quest for autonomy.
On July 15, 2020, the Cordillera Day was celebrated with a program led by the Regional Development Council and was virtually participated by the officials of the different provinces.
The Cordillera Administrative Region was created by the Executive Order (EO) 2020 signed by Pres. Corazon C. Aquino on July 15, 1987, which brought together the provinces of Abra, Benguet, Mountain Province and Baguio City from the Ilocos Region and the provinces of Ifugao, Kalinga and Apayao from the Cagayan Valley Region.
