Despite the ash spewing activities of Mt. Mayon in Albay, geologists from the central and regional offices of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau gathered at the 2018 Annual Geosciences Workshop held in Malilipot, Albay last February 1-8, 2018.

The delegation from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau-Cordillera Administrative Region (MGB-CAR) headed by the OIC Chief of the Geosciences Division Benigno Ceasar Espejo include the following: Supervising Geologist Noel Franco; Geologists II Annie Polidario and Kelvin Carlo Gaerlan and Geologist Rainier Sibulo.

The workshop was conducted for the presentation of the 2017 accomplishments of each region on Vulnerability Risk Assessment, Quadrangle Geologic Mapping, Subsidence Hazard Mapping, and Assessment of Groundwater Resources and Mineral Reservation; it also included harmonization of the maps produced; and an updating of methodology and structure for the upcoming Information Education Campaigns. This workshop also served as the venue for addressing internal and external issues encountered by each region.
