MGB-CAR geologists set up the Resistivity Meter in Poblacion, Pinukpuk, Kalinga
HYDROGEOLOGICAL SURVEY CONDUCTED IN PINUKPUK, KALINGA
May 23, 2018 – A team of geologists from the Geosciences Division (GSD) of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau-Cordillera Administrative Region (MGB-CAR) conducted a hydrogeological survey at Pinukpuk in the province of Kalinga.
Under the Groundwater Resources Assessment project of the Bureau, a municipality’s groundwater resources is being evaluated and assessed. The output of which is a 1:250, 000 Groundwater Availability Map of the said area.
The activities of this assessment include intensive documentation of wells and springs in the area, together with the collection of water samples for analysis in the agency’s laboratory to determine its safety for human consumption and its quality in general.
The team also conducts a georesistivity survey during the assessment with the use of a Resistivity Meter to identify aquifers beneath the earth’s surface.
The Groundwater Resources Assessment is one program of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau that contributes to the implementation of the Clean Water Act, which is one of the top ten priority agenda of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
