The DENR Secretary delivered a challenging message to the stake holders of the mining industry during the 64th AMNSEC testimonial dinner on November 24, 2017 at CAP Building, Camp John Hay,Baguio City.
Engr. Santiago M. Bugnosen of the Mine Management Division presented the study Small Scale Mining in Benguet after the DENR Administrative Order 2015-03 in the annual MGB Technical Forum on November 8-10, 2017 held at MO2 Westown Convention Center in Iloilo City. The Technical Forum was hosted by MGB Region 6 and the Metallurgy Division of MGB Central.
Ms. Fay W. Apil, OIC Regional Director of MGB-CAR on September 5, 2017 signed the renewal of the Mineral Processing Permit for the BMC-Forestry Corporation, as Mr. Antonio L. Buenavista, company president received their copy. The permit allows the company to process raw limestone into quick and slake lime at their processing plant in Irisan, Baguio City, for another five years.

Mines and Geosciences Bureau- Cordillera Administrative Region’s Senior Ecosystems Management Specialist Engr. Virginia Briones together with other members of the team monitors Lepanto Consolidated Mining Company’s adherence to environmental standards set by the government for Environmental Protection and Enhancement Program.
The team monitors the mining company’s compliance to environmental standards on a quarterly basis.
ABANDONED HOUSE. Mr. Jethro G. Panganiban, a geologist of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau-Cordillera Administrative Region closely inspects the cracks of the floor in the house of Ms. Magdalena Delmonte in barangay Patad, Pilar, Abra. Said house have been recently abandoned because of imminent danger. A team of geologists from the regional bureau visited the municipality of Pilar during the last week of August, 2017 to conduct an ocular geological inspection of the area.
